How it started...
First Baptist Church At The Villages began as a church plant in December of 2001 with 70 people in attendance in the first worship service which was held at a local funeral home. Worship services in our first building were in 2005 when over 500 gathered and that gathering prompted adding a second and then a third worship service each Sunday morning as the church family grew. It also initiated the process of facility expansion. On New Year's Day in 2012, on an adjacent 30 acres, ground was broken for our current 900-seat worship center and services were first held in the new building in 2013. The original building served as a Fellowship Hall until The Villages sought a location for a recreation facility in the vicinity. That original building now houses The Villages' First Responders Recreation Center.
Bob and Karen Perry began their ministry at First Baptist Church At The Villages as Pastor and wife in September 2006. Bob's gifts of preaching, teaching and leadership are complemented by Karen's passion for singing, teaching and missions. Together they lovingly serve each person affiliated with the church as Bob strives to provide God-honoring, Christ-like, and Spirit-led leadership to the overall ministry of the church.
God continues to bless the church and membership now totals approximately 650 people who serve and worship God together.
