Our Story

How it started...

First Baptist Church At The Villages began as a church plant in December of 2001 with 70 people in attendance in the first worship service which was held at a local funeral home. Worship services in our first building were in 2005 when over 500 gathered and that gathering prompted adding a second and then a third worship service each Sunday morning as the church family grew. It also initiated the process of facility expansion. On New Year's Day in 2012, on an adjacent 30 acres, ground was broken for our current 900-seat worship center and services were first held in the new building in 2013. The original building served as a Fellowship Hall until The Villages sought a location for a recreation facility in the vicinity. That original building now houses The Villages' First Responders Recreation Center.

In October 2024, FBC called Dr. Alan Branch as it's Lead Pastor. Dr. Branch and his wife, Lisa bring a vision for reaching The Villages and Southern Marion County with the Gospel. Our church has a clear direction and commitment of making FBC a multi-generational congregation committed to reaching our community with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Dr. Branch and Lisa are building on the foundation laid by our Pastor Emeritus, Bob Perry and his wife, Karen who lovingly lead FBC from September 2006 until March 2025.

God continues to bless our church! We have expanded our ministry footprint with our new children's ministry, First Kids. In June 2025 we held our first VBS for children in our church and community and in September we launched a Wednesday night program for children.
