FBC Missions OutreachTeam

The Missions Outreach Team inspires and stimulates participation in a comprehensive Acts 1:8 evangelism model that reflects our commitment, both individually and corporately, to go and make fully-devoted followers of Jesus Christ. The team seeks to empower and equip our congregation to go, give, send and pray for outreach missions and ministries so that we can take the gospel to all people, locally, nationally, and internationally.

· The team develops, promotes, and/or coordinates missions trips and projects through various FBC ministries and outreach partnerships.

· The team encourages and fosters the organization and leadership of outreach programs to reach persons in The Villages and surrounding communities.

Haven of Lake & Sumter Counties, Inc.

Haven of Lake & Sumter

Counties, Inc.

Haven of Lake & Sumter Counties, Inc. was established in 1977 to meet the needs of domestic violence victims.

Their primary objectives are to provide these victims with alternatives to abuse or life-threatening situations, and with empowerment to establish a violence-free life.

First Baptist Church At The Villages participates in Haven's ministry by collecting items needed by the women and children who have been victims of abuse. They need like-new clothing for women and children, household items, cleaning and paper supplies and child-appropriate games, videos and books. Items collected are delivered to the Haven Thrift Store in Leesburg.

Haven Collection at the church is the third Sunday of each month. A truck will be waiting near the Tower entrance where volunteers will receive your donations as you arrive for worship services.

Interfaith Emergency Services
of Ocala

Interfaith Emergency Services

Interfaith Emergency Services is a Christian-based, non-profit, community called by God in 1983 to offer emergency assistance and provide basic needs (shelter, food, medical assistance, etc.) to enhance the quality of life for many families and individuals, especially those who are homeless or veterans, or who have recently fallen on hard times and need just a bit of help to get them through the storm. They have a short-stay homeless shelter, women’s shelter, weekend manna bag program for children in need, and a thrift store which helps fund a variety of bills and medications.

IES has recently opened Center for Life which provides a center where local medical professionals can offer their services at a free clinic and provide quality medical attention to those low-income and uninsured individuals in our community. The Center for Life provides:

Hope...IES knows that for many of their clients, they are their last, and sometimes only, hope in a crisis. Acknowledging that responsibility maintains a focus on doing what is best to fulfill their needs.
Prayer...IES uses prayer daily, both individually and corporately, as a means through which they can communicate.

Community...Knowing they serve the community we live in strengthens their resolve to help their neighbors by extending God's love to others.

Volunteerism...Without dedicated volunteers, IES could not do what they do. They believe in supporting their volunteers so that their time is spent in a worthwhile endeavor helping those in their community.

Annually, empty shoeboxes are distributed to the local church family to be filled with gifts and are then collected and delivered to the local collection site for distribution by Samaritan’s Purse.
