Read more (click below) details of several on-campus, as well as in-home, opportunities for study and fellowship with a small group. There are 4 Bible Studies just for women and there are 4 short-term topical studies, for both men and women - some of which are meeting in host homes and others in Fellowship Hall.

For the first time, the new Families With Children Ministry, is offering "Parenting the Love and Logic Way" a 6-week study for parents of school-aged children.

Now is also the opportunity to become part of a Care Group. New ones will be forming in the next few weeks.

In The Eye of The Storm
Sermon Series Begins September 3
9:00am and 10:45am

In The Eye of The Storm
September 3 - 24, 2017

Storms...In life, they are inevitable!

It has been said, "In life, you're either entering, in the middle of, or exiting a storm."

  • They are forceful...furious...violent.
  • They prompt fear and dread...panic and frenzy...worry anxiety.
  • Some are temporary. Some are terminal. They can be experienced for a moment or endured for a lifetime.

How do you prepare? How do you endure? How do you overcome?

"In The Eye of The Storm" is a 4-week sermon series intended to answer those questions in relation to the very real and ever threatening storms of life. Find Biblical answers. Discover hope. Discover that God dwells in the midst of the storms. Join us...

Operation Christmas Child
Shoe Box Packing Party
September 9, 2017 at 10:00am
In Fellowship Hall

Operation Christmas Child
Shoe Box Packing Party
September 9, 2017 at 10:00am
In Fellowship Hall

What is a Packing Party? It's a group of people who come together and have a great time going from table to table to collect items that have been donated or made specifically for the purpose of building boxes for children globally. (The Prayer Shawl Ministry has been making items for shoe boxes since January of this year and have made over a thousand.) It's going to be fun with snacks, videos about Operation Christmas Child, miraculous shoe box stories, and more!

Joining in the fun at the Shoebox Packing Party will also give you a sampling of things to pack in your own shoeboxes that you will fill beginning the end of October. Your boxes, and the ones filled at the Party, will be combined in a grand effort to reach our Christmas 2017 goal of 1000!

Why are we doing this? Shopping for this Mission can be on our hearts all year. So, when you see a "good bargain" or different idea, you will think of the children who don't know Jesus. Packing shoeboxes gives every participant a hand-on mission project without the cost of leaving the country.

Our hope is that you will learn more about Operation Christmas Child and the real gift of HOPE that it represents to the children as they learn about the love of Jesus.

Shoebox Packing at Atlanta OCC Warehouse
Millions of shoeboxes are collected across the country during National Collection Week in November. Before these gifts can be shipped to children around the world, volunteers will carefully inspect and make sure the boxes are ready for overseas passage. FBC will send a team of volunteers. If you would like to be a part of that team, please contact LuAnn Schiff at 217.898.4031. The exact date the FBC Team will serve has not been determined but it will be in late November or early December.

Parenting the
Love and Logic Way

From the FBC Families with Children Ministry - a 6-week program beginning Thursday, September 21 and continuing through October 26, 2017. Weekly sessions will be held at: First Baptist Church At The Villages, in Fellowship Hall, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.

WHAT IS LOVE AND LOGIC?

The program is designed for parents with school-aged children - kindergarten through high school.

It is a balance of love, mutual respect, limits and accountability designed to help kids become happy, self-controlled adults.

The "Love" in Love and Logic means that we love our kids so much that we are willing to set and enforce limits. This love also means that we do so with sincere compassion and empathy.

The "Logic" in Love and Logic happens when we allow children to make decisions, make affordable mistakes, and experience the natural and logical consequences. When we balance this with sincere empathy, they develop the following logic:

"The quality of my life depends on the quality of my choices."

Registration Details: (The last day to register is September 10.)

Cost: $15 for a single, $20 for a couple.

Surviving The Holidays
A GriefShare Event

Wondering how you will survive the weeks surrounding Thanksgiving and Christmas? Are you dreading these holidays, knowing that everything has changed and that happy memories from past years can't be recreated?

GriefShare's "Surviving The Holidays" gives help and hope as you navigate the holiday season having just lost a loved one. It is especially for people who are grieving a loved one's death. You'll learn:

  • How to deal with the many emotions you'll face during the holidays.
  • What to do about traditions and other coming changes.
  • Helpful tips for surviving social events.
  • How to discover hope for your future

A "Surviving The Holidays" event lasts for about two hours. You'll be welcomed by warm, caring people who understand what you are going through and who want to help. During the seminar, you will:

  • Watch a 40-minutes video, filled with practical holiday survival tips and the real-life stories of people who have navigated the season after their loved's one's death.
  • Hear other seminar attendees explain how they are dealing with the holidays
  • Have the opportunity to share how grief is affecting you. (No pressure - this is optional. We want you to feel comfortable.)
  • Receive a personal copy of the GriefShare Holiday Survival Guide.

Click here for short video with more information about "Surviving The Holidays."

The FBC GriefShare Team is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. You don’t have to go through the grieving process alone.

If you wish to attend the seminar, you may register online by clicking here.

If you are attending worship services, you may also make a note on your Connection Card included with the Sunday bulletin. If you have other questions, you may call church office at 352.205.7114.
