FBC Christmas 2017 Highlights:

Christmas Messages: November 26 through December 24

Sunday Worship Services are scheduled for 9:00am and 10:45am on November 26, Dec 3, 10 and 17. Messages will center on Jesus Christ as the Light of the world. "The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned." Isaiah 9:2

On Sunday, December 24 (Christmas Eve), there will be identical candlelight services - one at 9:00am and one at 6:00pm. 

Light! Out of The Darkness: December 12, 13 and 14

Light! Out of The Darkness will feature The Celebration Choir with guest artists Caitlyn Gardner, Tanner Lambert and Voctave.

Our church's mission statement is "making fully-devoted followers of Jesus Christ." At the heart of this stated mission is the descriptive term - "fully devoted." Devotion is evidenced when a person is zealous, ardent, and loyal; dedicated and committed; enthusiastic, passionate, and steadfast. But the content of that devotion must be identified and understood in order to be pursued and realized. 

The "Fully Devoted" sermon series will present four sermons that will identify and encourage personal pursuit of what it means to be "fully devoted."

Please note: November 15 will be the last Wednesday Night Fellowship Dinner until after the holidays. Watch for an announcement in the Sunday bulletin and/or here on the website.

You may make your reservation for dinner using the Connection Card included in your Sunday worship bulletin or by clicking here. Make Reservations (Reservations must be made by 3:00pm on Monday preceding the dinner.) Cost for dinner is $6.50 and is paid when you arrive for dinner. Payment may be made by cash, check, or credit card.

Surviving The Holidays
A GriefShare Event

Wondering how you will survive the weeks surrounding Thanksgiving and Christmas? Are you dreading these holidays, knowing that everything has changed and that happy memories from past years can't be recreated?

GriefShare's "Surviving The Holidays" gives help and hope as you navigate the holiday season having just lost a loved one. It is especially for people who are grieving a loved one's death. You'll learn:

  • How to deal with the many emotions you'll face during the holidays.
  • What to do about traditions and other coming changes. 
  • Helpful tips for surviving social events.
  • How to discover hope for your future

A "Surviving The Holidays" event lasts for about two hours. You'll be welcomed by warm, caring people who understand what you are going through and who want to help. During the seminar, you will:

  • Watch a 40-minutes video, filled with practical holiday survival tips and the real-life stories of people who have navigated the season after their loved's one's death.
  • Hear other seminar attendees explain how they are dealing with the holidays
  • Have the opportunity to share how grief is affecting you. (No pressure - this is optional. We want you to feel comfortable.)
  • Receive a personal copy of the GriefShare Holiday Survival Guide.

The FBC GriefShare Team is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. You don’t have to go through the grieving process alone.

Food Collection Ministry
Collection the 2nd Sunday of each month

Food Collection Ministry

A newly-formed (September 2017) Food Collection Team will be working in partnership with the Helping Hands Ministry at First Baptist Church Of Belleview to collect and distribute non-perishable food items to those in need in our community. 

To do this, the Team will be collecting needed items on the second Sunday of each month​​. The Team will be positioned in our parking lot before and between Sunday worship services. The food items collected will then be transported to FBC Belleview for distribution to individuals and families in need. A list of needed items is printed below. 

Cash and checks (made payable to "Helping Hands") are also accepted. Money is used to purchase necessary items in short supply. Gifts may be placed in the offering basket during Sunday worship or taken to the Collection Team in the parking lot on Collection Sundays.

Membership Class

Membership Class

The next Membership Class is scheduled for Sunday, November 19, 2017. 

Getting to know all about First Baptist At The Villages is easy. Membership Classes are held periodically throughout the year and give the opportunity to discover the value of being part of a local body of believers, and specifically what it means to be part of God's loving family here at First Baptist. There is no obligation to join when you attend the class however the class is a prerequisite to membership. 

Refreshments are served and you will have the opportunity for fellowship with the pastors as well a others considering membership. Class is held in Fellowship Hall from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. As a reminder, the class will be announced in the Sunday Worship Bulletin and on the website. You may register online (see link below), or by making a note on the Connection Card in the Sunday bulletin. Please feel free to come to the class even if you have note registered.  

The class is designed to answer questions such as:

  • Why does the church exist?
  • Who are we, the church, and specifically First Baptist Church At The Villages?
  • What is the purpose of the church?
  • What do we believe?
  • What are the requirements for membership?
  • How is the church governed?
  • With whom are we, as First Baptist Church At The Villages, affiliated?
  • Who owns the church property?
  • How can the church property be used?
  • Do we have a constitution and how can it be changed or amended?

Also, to assist you in finding a place to serve, information is made available about all the ministries here at the church. That same information is available on this website by going to the home page and clicking on "Ministries" on the navigation bar. 

When you make the important decision to join the Family here at First Baptist, you will meet briefly with a Commitment Counselor who will gather the necessary information for adding your name to the membership rolls. Your picture will also be taken to include in the church's pictorial directory.
